Home Adaptation

Welcome to TimeFinders’ Home Adaptation Service

We are an award-winning and highly respected company offering practical and emotional support
to older people and their families in changing circumstances.

Staying in control and maintaining independence in old age does not necessarily mean having to move home. Sometimes the best decision is to “stay put” and to make sure that your living arrangements are suitable and appropriate for your needs now and in the future. However, it is very important that this is the result of a positive, active decision, not just an unwillingness to consider the alternatives. It is very easy to reject the whole idea of moving somewhere more manageable simply because the prospect of all that is involved is overwhelming.

Planning for Your Old Age.

In order to stay in control, it is important to plan ahead and TimeFinders will help you with contingency planning for old age so that when circumstances change you are prepared and have a care and support strategy which can be implemented straight away. For help and advice with this, please see:

Home Adaptation

Home Adaptation

If you decide to stay where you are, TimeFinders can help you with making any practical home adaptations, either simply for yourself or to allow you to receive care at home (CQC).  These might include such things as rearranging your living space to make mobility easier and safer, changing a bathroom into a shower or wet room, or installing a downstairs toilet. We will also help you with security measures and technological assistance such as personal alarms.

Re-organizing your home to facilitate Care at Home

Carer handing an elderly woman a cup of teaOur physical environment has a significant impact on our sense of well-being and yet properly organizing a home when one needs care is rarely considered. However wonderful the standard of physical care, all too often the privacy, dignity and sense of worth of the person receiving such care is subtly eroded and this can lead to increased isolation, anxiety and depression. It is difficult enough to have to accept personal and nursing care at home without the added distress of seeing one’s home, of which one was so proud, turned topsy-turvy as the paraphernalia of care takes over.

TimeFinders will arrange whatever modifications are necessary to allow you to stay in your own home and re-organize things to suit your specific needs. We will turn make-shift arrangements into carefully and thoughtfully arranged living spaces, minimizing as far as possible the impact of care equipment and dealing discreetly with care supplies. (For more information, please go to Choosing and Managing Care.)

When someone is frail, finds mobility difficult or is even bed bound, anxieties about security and pilfering can become magnified. By putting in place practical and effective measures, TimeFinders can alleviate such worries.

To remain independent in your own home might mean that you require other services such as cleaning and gardening and TimeFinders can source and manage these services for you.
