Continuing Support Services

Welcome to TimeFinders’ Continuing Support Services

We are an award-winning and highly respected company offering practical and emotional support
to older people and their families in changing circumstances.

As we get older our needs and abilities change. Many things that we have always managed without difficulty can become a struggle and the worries of ordinary life seem more exhausting and stressful.

The TimeFinders Continuing Support Services embody our dedication and determination to do whatever it takes to bring the right Practical and Emotional Support to our clients in their everyday lives.

How it Works

It works very simply. Firstly, weContinuing Support Services sit down with you and talk over exactly what it is that you’d like to happen and when. You can tell us about all your ideas and ambitions for the future. We will discuss not only what you feel would be good outcomes for you but also the things that you really don’t like and want to avoid. We will also start to explore what your feelings are concerning some the difficult choices which might one day become necessary for you to make, and whether you have any clear preferences at this stage.

This will all just be a snapshot of what you think at this moment and can be easily changed later as often as you like.

Once we’ve talked all this through thoroughly and we feel that we understand what you want and need, we’ll agree a plan with you to visit as often as you wish so we can make it all happen.

As a Continuing Support Client you’ll know that we are always there to:

  • Review – make sure that everything is going well and as you would wish
  • Talk – be available to talk over anything  you might want to change or that is worrying you – to be your ‘sounding-board’ for ideas and decisions. This can happen at a meeting or by phone or email.
  • Act – do whatever is necessary if something happens
  • Manage –be with you in the meantime to help with Household Management – those stressful and irksome details of modern life such as Energy Providers, Insurance, Broadband, scam emails and so on.

The TimeFinders Continuing Support Service is particularly valuable if you: –

  • Increasingly need support which is beyond the remit of your financial and legal advisers
  • Are managing a change in health
  • Have been recently bereaved
  • Have family who are busy and preoccupied with their own lives
  • Need patience and understanding and someone to work at your own pace
  • Have lost confidence or just feel that you need an independent advocate on your side.

Mental Capacity – Continuing Support and Advocacy

The Continuing Support Service is designed for clients who have mental capacity and retain the power of making decisions over their lives. But what if that capacity should become impaired, perhaps by Dementia or some other illness or injury? What if you retain capacity but lose your confidence and ability to cope? What if you feel you can can no longer make your own decisions or speak for yourself so you make yourself heard and understood?

You may have granted Lasting Power of Attorney to one or more people so they will be able to make the decisions for you, but can you be sure that they know enough about you to make the right ones? security in old ageWill they know your likes and dislikes, your favourite things and your most loathed, the people you love and those with whom you just can’t get on, what makes you most happy and what upsets you? Importantly, will they be aware of and respect your thoughts and decisions on the subjects of religion, spirituality, philosophy and all the other matters which will be so fundamental when making future life-changing decisions?

Lawyers will deal, quite rightly, with the legal aspects of Attorneyship but there is so much more to it than that. What is needed is someone to guide and advise you as you explore these difficult questions which, too often, simply don’t occur either to the Attorney or the older person and can easily be overlooked until it’s too late.

With this in mind, whilst TimeFinders cannot be your Attorney, we can certainly act as your Advocate. The TimeFinders Advocacy Service asks you all the difficult questions when you still feel fit and able to answer them  – about your desires, your preferences and your opinions. With this information we can make sure that, should you become incapacitated, those making decisions on your behalf know your choices and can respect your wishes.

An Advocacy Agreement can be added very simply to the Continuing Support Service. It will simply require a few extra meetings to find out what we need to know from you so we can produce the Advocacy Document for your approval. If you are interested in this, please read more about the Advocacy Service here…

At TimeFinders, we believe passionately that old age should be a time of contentment and fulfilment, something to be savoured and enjoyed, not merely managed or endured. With our Continuing Support and Advocacy Services, we can provide whatever practical help and emotional support you need to continue to live your live as fully and richly as you can.
