Employee Retention in Family Crisis

TimeFinders’ wide range of services can be an invaluable resource to companies experiencing staff challenges or losses due to the responsibilities of caring for older parents or family.

The age at which employees are in their prime – at their most highly trained, qualified and experienced and most closely integrated into a company or team – is often the age at which they begin to face increasing family responsibilities for ageing relatives. Losing such valuable people has a significant cost and it often makes good sense to offer them help to deal with their personal challenges if it allows them to remain in place.

Planning for the future in tranquillity is always better than having to make urgent decisions because of a crisis. Such crises can be caused by a sudden event – a diagnosis or onset of a life-changing illness, perhaps, or an accident or stroke. Serious medical problems or falls can so easily be life-changing for older people and even a small setback, a simple seasonal illness perhaps, can destroy someone’s independence and confidence. Sometimes the effects become apparent only gradually, as with conditions such as Dementia or Parkinson’s, and one day a loved one just finds themselves unable to cope. The effects may be physical, or mental, or a combination of both and the incapacity might be permanent or temporary.

At such times, it is very important to have someone to turn to upon whom you can rely. We bring a calm and professional voice of reason offering independent support and advice. We will help your employee firstly to stabilize their situation and then to put plans in place which allow them the best chance of managing things successfully in the future.

In 2014, TimeFinders was invited by UKTI (UK Trade & Investment, now Department for International Trade) to participate in the Passport to Export Scheme, as a result of which we developed our innovative Expat Service. Part of our Support for Attorneys, Family & Friends, this is a service specially designed to help British workers overseas deal with the challenges of frail and elderly parents back here in in the UK. It has now also proved invaluable also for people who live in the UK but are caring for elderly relatives at a distance.

These TimeFinders Services can be of great value when offered as a Company Benefit and we are always happy to discuss other creative ways in which we can work together with companies and organizations for whom this is an issue.
